Hello map fans!
TIGIR hopes that the fourth week of school is going well for everyone! This newsletter includes some important club updates, upcoming events, and opportunities for members this month.
Upcoming Meetings & Events:
September 16 - This week’s meeting will be prep for the upcoming career fair on September 23rd and applying for internships. We will be working on creating a portfolio and doing resume reviews. All of our E-Board members have completed internships and gone through the internship application process, so we’re happy to help answer questions and provide guidance!
Can’t make the meeting? You can still get your resume reviewed! Send your resume to tigir@rit.edu or post it in the #jobs channel on our Discord.
For this meeting, we also recommend that members sign up for free student memberships with the Esri Young Professionals Network and Geospatial Professional Network. Both organizations provide opportunities to connect with GIS professionals, learn about the field, and explore career opportunities.
September 23 - Since the RIT Career Fair is taking place on September 23, we will not have a TIGIR meeting that day. This gives everyone time to attend the career fair, apply for positions, and recover afterward!
September 30 - On September 30, we’ll be hosting a workshop on creating web maps. We’ll also recap the career fair, discuss any interesting opportunities or announcements, and share other TIGIR updates.
We Want Your Input
There has been conversation about changing our club time since it falls on the same day and time as the IGME 384 course. To help us see if a time change is necessary, please fill out the when2meet link so we can see which day our members prefer.
